Abita Turbodog Beer Review

Abita Turbodog
English Brown Ale [Type 47] 5.6% ABV
While out on the town, we decided to drop in to Cuvee 928. We had never been to the restaurant before, so we did not know what to expect. I knew it was a wine bar, but I checked to see what beer they had on tap. New Belgium Hoptober and Abita Turbodog. I had Hoptober at Oktoberfest a couple of weeks ago, so I decided to turn the unknown Turbodog. Abita is a Louisana brewery, so that explains why I had never heard of it before.

What a pleasant surprise! Turbodog is dark and rich, with strong malts and no bitterness. I enjoyed this beer with a pork loin, an excellent combination. The malts give this flavors of chocolate and caramel, with a sweetness that was unexpected. If you demand hops in your beer, this will be unsatisfying, but if you willing to experience the full spectrum of beer flavors, this is a very good brown ale. I will be looking for this beer again.
