Over at CrossFit.com, there is a guide to starting CrossFit. There is a bit about the idea of CrossFit, and some explanations of the basic movements.
More work in less time means higher average power (force x distance / time = power). Higher average power means higher intensity. Higher intensity means better results.
Fitness is increased work capacity across broad time, modal, and age domains.
