Applied Topology and Dante

Robert Ghrist sounds like my kinda guy. His area of expertise is almost completely over my head [applied topology], but he likes all things medieval, and is a fan of G. K. Chesterton. His passion in life is to apply unused mathematical discoveries to practical problems, including the coverage sensor networks and analysis of large groupings of data without having to reduce the number of dimenions that you examine at once. I can just barely begin to have an inkling of how this might work, but it seems pretty cool.

I think the same thing could be done with Thomist philosophy, but topology is less of a stretch, which is why someone pays him to do that.
